NYX Chrome Eyeshadows (Collection, Review & Swatches!)

If there is one thing you guys will learn about me, it's that I absolutely adore NYX Cosmetics. They have a crazy wide range of products, a ridiculous color selection, they're amazing quality and most importantly, they are affordable! I'm definitely a MAC fan as well, but I use those two brands together interchangeably, and they definitely match in quality. Obviously, like all brands, there are hits and definitely some misses. But today, we're going to talk about products I particularly enjoy.

NYX recently came out with their version of loose pigments, similar to MAC. They are a more conveniently packaged pigment in comparison to their Ultra Pearl Mania shadows. Those had a stubby little opening that made it nearly impossible to get a brush inside. I'm sure everyone who purchased these immediately de-potted them into little sample jars like I did. However, now the new Chrome shadows are in a normal jar, and their quality is just as fabulous for such an affordable price.

If you hate shimmer, I would recommend you try the single matte shadows from NYX (which are also AMAZING) because these are very shimmery. If you like a little shimmer, or pearly finish, these are perfect for you.

Here is my collection NYX Chrome Shadows, as well as some swatches!

Top to bottom
1st row: Black/white neutrals
2nd: Pale warm colors
3rd: Bright warm colors
4th: Warm earth tones
5th: Pale cool colors
6th: Cool Earth tones

Here are some swatches. Disclaimer: I did prep my skin with a moisturizer and a stripe of NYX jumbo pencil in Milk because my skin is kind of transparent, and swatches never show up very well. I also applied these swatches with a basic elf shadow brush.

Pearl White
2 Wise Men

Platinum

Charcoal

Black

Overall, I'm really pleased with these pigments. I use a jumbo pencil before applying them and they work perfectly. I was a little disappointed in the Violet, Black and Charcoal shades. Violet looks a lot more impressive in the jar than it does on the skin. As for the Black and Charcoal, I feel as if they are both too similar and neither of them are as dark as I'd like. Considering I spent about 131 dollars for 30 pigments that will last for a ridiculously long time, I'm pretty happy. I recently purchased two MAC pigments and with the money I spent on two of them, I could have purchased ten NYX pigments. TEN. I know there is a difference in amount, however, to be completely honest I don't see myself using all of them and having to replace them for at LEAST the next few years. So, I'd say it's a great buy.

Thanks for reading, guys!

Well, hello there lovelies!

So I know I definitely want to start a beauty blog of some sort. I started to post things on a luuux account, however I find the site to be too cluttered for me to navigate. I'll link to posts on there as often as I can, but I think I will primarily post beauty related rants and adventures on here.

For starters, I suppose I'll tell you a bit about myself and my beauty journey.
(Mostly for those of you who either don't know me or don't know about this part of my life.)

My name is Vanessa, but I typically go by Nessa (or Ness) for short. I'm 20 years old and I'm just your average college student. I somewhat consider myself a late bloomer and definitely a makeup beginner. I only wore the occasional eye liner and lip gloss in high school, and that wasn't even until my senior year. I had very traditional parents who felt I was too young to be wearing makeup. My mother always said that I had my entire life to mess with my face and that I had no one to impress. Oddly enough, she was a total Mac-aholic (it's genetic, I swear!)

Anyways, I didn't start getting into makeup until a good friend of mine experimented on me with his personal kit. Little by little, he had me putting on a little more liner here, and a bit of powder there. Next thing you know, I'm a junior in college with a pretty decent collection. I hardly leave the house without a full face of makeup and I could not be more happy about it.

Loads of my friends are guys or girls that just flat out HATE wearing makeup. They all think it's a petty waste of time and money. If you fall under that category, I suggest you either keep those rude comments to yourself or just click the little x-button and be on your way. :)

I was a bit of an ugly duckling growing up, and I feel that now I have more control over my appearance. I'm not necessarily trying to cover myself up, instead I am just enhancing what I already have. For the first time in years, I actually have self-confidence and I feel as though I can go about my day with my chin held high.

So basically how I have been progressing in my makeup journey is through YouTube. I've been watching hours upon hours of tutorials, collection videos and product reviews. I've been sitting in front of a mirror with countless gurus virtually by my side, walking me through every step. It sounds silly to those who are unfamiliar, but it honestly is how I've learned about cosmetic and beauty related awesomeness thus far. So through my blog, I will record my journey as well as share tips and tricks that I learn along the way with all of you!

I hope to meet new beauties and fellow makeup lovers!
